How to Calculate Discount?
Calculating a discount is a simple process. It involves finding a percentage of the original price and subtracting it. Here is the formula used by our calculator:
Discount Amount = (Original Price × Discount %) / 100
Final Price = Original Price - Discount Amount
Final Price = Original Price - Discount Amount
Example: If a shirt costs ₹1,000 and is on sale for 20% off:
- Discount Amount = (1000 × 20) / 100 = ₹200
- Final Price = 1000 - 200 = ₹800
Calculating with Sales Tax
If you need to include tax, the tax is usually applied to the discounted price, not the original price.
Tax Amount = Final Price × (Tax Rate / 100)
Total to Pay = Final Price + Tax Amount
